Key roles and responsibilities
- Core-Competency: Full ownership of: Production planning and control, Toolroom, maintenance, galvanizing, and dispatch.
- Balances output quantity, quality, cost, and time to meet customer and business objectives.
- Deep understanding of: Sheet metal processes – cutting, punching, bending, welding, surface treatment, Roll forming operations and press tool management, Hot Dip Galvanizing plant controls (PLC-based) and coating thickness standards, Able to support troubleshooting and process improvement.
- Oversees: Weekly/monthly MRP and capacity planning, Shift load balancing, line efficiency, and machine uptime (OEE), Uses Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen to optimize workflows and reduce waste; Implements preventive and predictive maintenance systems, Ensures uptime of critical machines (press brakes, roll forming, galvanizing furnace, compressors).
- Ensures: Adherence to ISO 9001, customer specs, and internal quality standards, Zero-defect culture across welding, dimensional checks, and surface finish, Timely closure of NCRs, CAPA, and customer complaints; Leads plant safety audits, PPE adherence, and risk mitigation programs, Promotes 5S, fire safety, and zero-accident workplace culture.
- Strong coordination with: Sales – for delivery priorities and client commitments, Purchase – for raw material and tool availability; Builds a high-performing team by: Mentoring line managers and supervisors, Driving accountability, clarity, and motivation on the shopfloor, Encouraging internal promotions and training programs; Drives: Efficiency KPIs: OEE, rejection %, cost per ton, downtime, Budgeting and cost optimization.
- Capex planning and ROI tracking for plant upgrades; Comfortable with: ERP systems (Bizsol), Using/Creating MIS dashboards and analytics for real-time performance tracking.

- 10-12 Years in steel industry

Qualification
- Mandatory Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree (B.E. / B.Tech) in: Mechanical Engineering/Production Engineering /Industrial Engineering / Metallurgical Engineering (optional but useful for galvanizing process know-how).
- Preferred / Value-Add Qualifications Postgraduate Degree or Certification in: Operations Management (PGDM/MBA – Operations), Manufacturing Excellence / Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt/Black Belt), Industrial Safety Management (especially for plants with heavy machinery and galvanizing units).
