Key Roles & Responsibility
- Core-Competency: Proficient in setting up: Offline roll forming machines (manual material feed, batch runs), Online roll forming machines (automated coil feed with decoiler, straightener, cutter).
- Selects and sets roller dies, guides, and cutters accurately for different profiles.
- Ensures output matches required: Profile dimensions, hole positions, slot lengths, and cut lengths.
- Adjusts roller pressure, alignment, and speed to maintain tight tolerances and prevent distortion or warping.
- Identifies: Roll wear, chipping, misalignment, or uneven material flow, Performs: Die changes, roller cleaning, and lubrication, Basic troubleshooting for cut-to-length systems and hydraulic units; Reads: Technical drawings, including cross-sections, punch locations, and tolerances, BOM/job cards to understand part specs and material requirements; Operates or coordinates: Online punching tools (where holes/slots are punched before/after forming), Cut-to-length units, auto stackers, or part ejectors.
- Understands behavior of: GI, HR, CR, and aluminum coils during forming, Adjusts settings based on material thickness, width, coating, and hardness; Uses: Vernier calipers, measuring tapes, angle gauges, and templates, Performs first-off inspection and records in-process checks for length, angle, and straightness; Maintains: Daily production logs, rejection records, and coil usage sheets, Records tool change logs and machine downtime history.
- Follows strict safety protocols: Coil loading/unloading, pinch point protection, and guarding, Ensures proper use of PPE (gloves, safety shoes, helmet, eye protection); Coordinates with: Material handlers, quality inspectors, and supervisors.
- Helps optimize output, minimize scrap, and reduce cycle time through process suggestions.
