Position: Heavy Vehicle Mechanic
Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy vehicles such as buses, trucks, and commercial vehicles. The candidate should have hands-on experience in mechanical repairs, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance and repair work on heavy vehicles, including buses, trucks, and commercial vehicles.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot engine, transmission, clutch, brake, suspension, steering, and other mechanical issues.
- Inspect vehicle components and identify faults using appropriate tools and equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance, servicing, and breakdown repairs.
- Assist in the installation, fitting, and maintenance of bus air-conditioning systems wherever required.
- Carry out dismantling, assembly, and replacement of mechanical components.
- Ensure proper functioning of vehicle systems after repairs.
- Follow safety procedures and maintain tools, equipment, and the work area.
- Maintain service records and report major technical issues to the supervisor.
Required Skills
- Good knowledge of heavy vehicle mechanical systems and troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience in repairing buses, trucks, or other commercial vehicles.
- Knowledge of engines, gearboxes, clutches, brakes, suspension, and steering systems.
- Ability to use mechanical tools and workshop equipment.
- Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance procedures and safety practices.
- Ability to identify faults and complete repairs efficiently.
Educational Qualification
- ITI in Mechanic Motor Vehicle (MMV), Diesel Mechanic, Automobile, or a related trade preferred.
- Relevant hands-on experience in heavy vehicle maintenance is an advantage.
Experience
- 1–5 years of experience in heavy vehicle maintenance and repair preferred.
- Candidates with practical workshop experience may also apply.
