About the role
We need someone on the ground every day in our Vaishali cluster.
Vision India Talent Foundation runs Project Harit Gram Samriddhi, an integrated livelihood programme for small farming households covering horticulture, a shared farm machinery service, women-led poultry, beekeeping and rural enterprise. You will spend most of your week in the villages: meeting farmers, running training, tracking what was planted or distributed, and keeping records that match the field.
The role also supports farm operations at the Farmरस demonstration farm at Basudevpur Chaputa, run by Vaankargha Private Limited, which is the programme's practical learning base. Your time is formally split between the two, with separate timesheets, and the split is confirmed in writing at the offer stage.
This is a first job with real responsibility. You will be the person farmers call.
Key responsibilities
A. Community mobilisation and project delivery
• Run village meetings and household surveys; support beneficiary selection and gram panchayat validation
• Maintain the beneficiary register: who received what, when, and in what condition
• Organise farmer training, demonstrations and expert visits, and follow up afterwards
• Make regular handholding visits to horticulture, poultry and beekeeping households
• Be the first point of contact for participating farmers and women's groups
B. Farm and equipment operations support
• Coordinate daily activity at the demonstration farm: plantation, irrigation, crop care, poultry and bee units
• Run the shared machinery service: booking schedule, operator coordination, usage and maintenance logs
• Track input stock, distribution and asset condition
• Enforce safety protocols for equipment operation and pesticide handling
• Support harvest, grading and local market linkage
C. Records, reporting and MIS
• Keep field records daily, on paper and in the project MIS
• Capture geo-tagged photographs, attendance sheets and asset documentation
• Write weekly field updates and support monthly and quarterly donor reporting
• Support baseline, midline and endline data collection
• Keep documentation audit-ready at all times
Our funding and our audits rest on records that match what is actually in the field.
Who we are looking for : Attitude, local roots and willingness to be in the field matter more to us than a specific degree.
Essential
• Graduate in agriculture, rural development, social work, life sciences or any discipline with real interest in rural work; a diploma with field experience is equally welcome
• 0–2 years' experience, including internships, fieldwork or a family farming background
• From Vaishali or Hajipur, or clearly willing to live there
• Fluent Hindi and comfortable in the local dialect
• Two-wheeler with a valid licence, and willing to travel to villages daily
• Smartphone, WhatsApp and basic Excel or Google Sheets
Desirable
• Exposure to horticulture, poultry, beekeeping, farm machinery or FPO work
• Experience with an NGO, KVK, FPO, agri-input company or CSR programme
• Data entry on any MIS or mobile data collection app
• Women candidates and candidates from local farming households are particularly encouraged
This role is not for you if
• You want a desk job or fixed office hours
• You are uncomfortable travelling to villages in summer heat and monsoon
• You see this as a stopgap while preparing for competitive exams
