Job Description – Assistant Manager (Vendor Development)
Job Summary
Responsible for new supplier development, sourcing, and cost estimation of electronic, mechanical, and packaging components for new projects. Identify and develop alternate suppliers to achieve project cost reduction and customer target cost.
Prepare and issue RFQs based on engineering drawings, specifications, and BOMs. Evaluate supplier quotations and negotiate raw material prices, tooling costs, payment terms, MOQ, lead times, and other commercial terms. Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure projects meet cost, quality, and delivery requirements.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed BOM costing for new projects.
- Conduct cost analysis and cost optimization for electronic, mechanical, and packaging components.
- Develop and source new and alternate suppliers to meet project requirements and target costs.
- Prepare and issue RFQs based on engineering drawings, specifications, and BOMs.
- Obtain, evaluate, and compare supplier quotations.
- Negotiate RM prices, tooling costs, MOQ, payment terms, lead times, and other commercial conditions.
- Establish and monitor target costs for components and projects.
- Conduct supplier cost evaluation and commercial analysis.
- Identify cost-reduction opportunities through alternate suppliers, material optimization, process changes, and value engineering.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, Production, Project Management, and Finance teams for successful project execution.
- Support supplier selection based on cost, quality, capability, capacity, and delivery performance.
- Maintain accurate BOM, costing, quotation, and supplier-related data.
- Prepare costing reports and management presentations for project reviews.
- Ensure sourcing activities are completed within the required project timeline and customer target cost.
