Project/Production Manager – Transformer

CTC: 15 to 20 LPA (Inclusive 10% performance linked bonus)

Experience Level: Senior (12+ years)

Job Purpose

To lead the planning, execution, and delivery of heavy equipment and plant engineering projects — from design and fabrication through installation and commissioning. This role requires strong technical grounding in heavy machinery/plant systems combined with proven project leadership across cross-functional teams, contractors, and clients.

Key Responsibilities

·       Own end-to-end project delivery for heavy equipment/plant projects — scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety

·       Develop and maintain detailed project plans, resource allocation, and Gantt-based schedules for fabrication, assembly, and site installation phases

·       Coordinate with design/engineering teams to ensure technical feasibility and manufacturability of plant equipment

·       Manage procurement of raw materials (steel plate, structural sections, castings, etc.) and long-lead equipment items

·       Liaise with fabrication shop floor, QA/QC, and site erection teams to ensure adherence to drawings, codes (ASME, AWS, IS, EN as applicable), and client specifications

·       Lead client interactions, progress reviews, and technical clarifications throughout the project lifecycle

·       Manage subcontractors and vendors, including scope definition, contract compliance, and performance tracking

·       Monitor project costs, track variations/change orders, and report on budget vs. actuals

·       Ensure compliance with HSE (Health, Safety, Environment) standards across fabrication and site activities

·       Identify project risks proactively and implement mitigation strategies

·       Prepare and present progress reports, MIS, and dashboards to senior management and clients

·       Drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions for delays, non-conformances, or cost overruns

Required Qualifications & Experience

·       Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field (Master's/PMP preferred)

·       12+ years of experience in project management within heavy engineering, plant equipment manufacturing, or industrial fabrication; with at least 5 years in a managerial role

·       Strong working knowledge of fabrication processes (welding, machining, assembly) and plant/equipment engineering standards

·       Familiarity with project management tools (MS Project, Primavera P6, ERP/SAP)

·       Solid understanding of contract management, procurement, and vendor negotiation

·       Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards (ASME, IS 800, AWS D1.1, or regional equivalents)
