Role Overview
The Regional Sales Manager will lead and grow sales operations within the assigned region, focusing on Testing & Calibration Equipment for the Automotive, Electrical, Aerospace, EV, and Government R&D sectors. This role demands a strategic and results-oriented professional with strong leadership and technical sales expertise. The incumbent will drive regional sales strategies, manage key accounts, guide the sales team, and expand market share to achieve the company’s business growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop and execute strategic sales plans tailored to the South Indian market to consistently achieve or exceed revenue targets and market share goals.
· Identify and convert new business opportunities by targeting OEMs, research and calibration labs, quality/test centres, and automotive component manufacturers.
· Manage, grow, and retain existing accounts by ensuring customers maximize value from both standard and custom products and services.
· Understand customer technical requirements related to test and measurement solutions; propose and facilitate technical demonstrations, proof-of-concept trials, and custom designs.
· Lead all sales stages end-to-end: prospecting, application-focused selling, quotation preparation, negotiation, and closing while protecting margins and ensuring timely delivery.
· Coordinate closely with internal teams including Engineering, Product Application, Calibration, and Service to align solutions with customer expectations and specifications.
· Monitor competitor activity, pricing strategies, market trends, regulatory changes, and industry standards, adapting sales approaches accordingly.
· Ensure timely collection of receivables, maintain healthy customer accounts, and manage regional sales budgets.
· Produce accurate sales forecasts, monthly/quarterly MIS reports, and business plans for senior management review.
· Represent Sushma Industries at regional trade shows, technical expos, and industry conferences.
· Recruit, train, and mentor a regional sales team as needed to scale operations and enhance sales performance.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of capital equipment / machine manufacturing / SPM industry.
- Deep knowledge of Test & Measurement, Calibration instrumentation, and capital equipment selling.
- Strong technical understanding of sensors, torque/force testing systems, data acquisition, calibration, etc.
- Excellent sales, negotiation, and relationship-building ability, especially with OEMs, calibration labs, automotive & quality-centric customers.
- Good understanding of standards/certifications (ISO / NABL etc.), calibration practices.
- Ability to translate technical features into business/ROI value for customers.
- Self-starter, target-oriented, ability to work independently across a large territory.
- Strong communication skills in English + preference for local languages (Tamil / Telugu / Kannada) for deep regional penetration.
- Leadership ability: mentoring, team coordination, possibly recruiting regional resources.
Qualifications
- B.E / B.Tech in Mechanical / Electrical / Mechatronics or related; higher technical qualification or MBA is a plus.
- 8-12 years of sales experience in industrial test & measurement, calibration, or capital equipment. At least 4-6 years covering South India essential.
- Experience selling sensors & gauges, torque/force/pressure test systems, or OEM instrumentation is highly desirable.
- Prior track record of meeting/exceeding sales targets, managing large accounts, negotiating technical & commercial terms.
- Strong network in automotive, R&D labs, calibration labs, manufacturing sectors in South India.
