a specialist to drive learning excellence and talent development across all railway-
focused engagements.
Position Summary:
The HR Training & Development Specialist – Railway Vertical is responsible for
designing, executing, and optimizing training programs that enhance the technical
and behavioural competencies of railway workforce deployments. Reporting directly
to the HR Director, this role ensures that employees and contract staff working in
railway projects are compliant, certified, and continuously upskilled to meet safety,
operational, and project-specific requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Training Needs Assessment (TNA)
▪ Conduct competency gap analysis across deployed and to-be-deployed railway
personnel (refurbishment, lavatory upgradation, engineering, signaling, safety,
etc.).
▪ Collaborate with client HR teams and project managers to identify mandatory
and developmental training needs by role, project phase, and function.
▪ Align training plans with national and international railway standards (e.g., IR,
RDSO, IRSE, UIC, EN50126/8/9, ISO, etc.).
Training Program Design & Development
▪ Develop and implement end-to-end training programs including:
▪ Technical skills (Caoch Refurbishment, Lavatory Upgradation, electrification,
rolling stock, etc.)
▪ Safety compliance (PTS, OHS, fire safety, incident response, etc.)
▪ Behavioural training (team collaboration, leadership, compliance ethics)
▪ Induction & onboarding for new joiners specific to railway projects
▪ Customize content for in-person, e-learning, and hybrid formats based on
audience type (contractual, permanent, executive).
Certification & Compliance Training
▪ Ensure mandatory certifications (e.g., Personal Track Safety, Electrical Isolation,
Medical Fitness) are up to date and documented.
▪ Partner with accredited training providers and railway institutes for external
certification programs.
▪ Track compliance-based training completion and proactively manage
expiries/renewals.
Training Delivery & Coordination
▪ Conduct or coordinate training sessions through internal trainers, third-party
vendors, or online platforms.
▪ Schedule sessions in alignment with project timelines and employee availability
(e.g., pre-mobilization or induction training).
▪ Support train-the-trainer programs for supervisors and technical mentors.
Performance Tracking & Feedback
▪ Assess training effectiveness through post-training evaluations, manager
feedback, and on-site performance outcomes.
▪ Maintain training dashboards, attendance records, feedback surveys, and ROI
analysis.
▪ Provide reports to the HR Director on training KPIs and employee development
milestones.
Learning & Development Strategy
▪ Support the HR Director in developing a strategic roadmap for talent
development within the Railway Vertical.
▪ Recommend learning technologies, LMS platforms, and blended learning
methodologies.
▪ Promote a culture of continuous learning aligned with safety, innovation, and
operational excellence in rail.
Required Qualifications:
▪ Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Education, Engineering, or related field.
▪ Postgraduate qualification in HR, Learning & Development, or Train-the-Trainer
certification preferred.
▪ 4–8 years of experience in training & development, with at least 2–3 years in
railway, infrastructure, or engineering domains.
Key Skills & Competencies:
▪ Deep understanding of railway operations, technical job profiles, and safety
protocols.
▪ Experience designing technical and compliance-based training programs for
blue-collar and white-collar workers.
▪ Strong facilitation, instructional design, and curriculum development skills.
▪ Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
▪ Proficiency in MS Office, LMS platforms, and training evaluation tools.
▪ Knowledge of training compliance regulations in railway industry (IR, RDSO,
IRSE, Network Rail, etc.)
Preferred Attributes:
▪ Certification in Instructional Design (e.g., ADDIE, Bloom’s Taxonomy,
Kirkpatrick Model).
▪ Exposure to large-scale metro or rail infrastructure projects (public or private).
▪ Experience with safety-focused training programs (OHSAS/NEBOSH/IOSH-
certified environments).
